100 Quilts for Kids: Spread the Word Giveaways

100 Quilts for Kids officially starts in about three weeks--I can't wait! I wanted to offer one more giveaway, from my personal stash, to help spread the word. Perhaps these fabrics look familiar--a Neptune by Tula Pink charm pack, a DS Quilts Charm pack(a mix of Picnic, Fairgrounds, Sugar Creek, and some Australia only prints), and a gallon size bag of Katie Jump Rope scraps (also by Denyse Schmidt) from my Summer Sampler Quilt. I decided to pick fabric I would love to win, in hopes that one of them would appeal to you!

100 Quilts for Kids Basics
-Make a quilt (baby, toddler, twin)
-Take a picture/s of the quilt (fabric, in progress and finished shots all welcome), and add them to the nascent 100 Quilts for Kids flickr group
-Link up on September 28-30 or October 12-14 to be eligible for fabric related prizes
-Donate (most important part!) your quilt/s to a child or organization in your community (i.e., my quilts are going to an organization in DC that provides care for children waiting foster care placement; my mom would donate to a group of her choice in the Bay Area)

Thanks in advance for helping me spread the word about 100 Quilts for Kids--please consider taking the time to do one of the following: mention it on your blog or facebook, tweet about it, email your guild, or put the button on your blog.  If you do, please leave me a comment on this post--I would love to hear your favorite birthday present/memory... there is a birthday at our house this week, and I need ideas. Stat!

Swim, Bike, Quilt

If the button is already on your blog (thank you!), please leave a comment.  I will draw three separate winners on Wednesday, August 24, at 12pm ET (the birthday day!)

Check back soon--I'll be announcing a fun, simple (!) 100 Quilts charm pack quilt along this week, using a favorite blogger's tutorial (with permission, of course). If you have any favorite charm pack quilt tutorials or patterns that you would like to see included in the tutorial list, send me a note swimbikequilt at gmail dot com.

Finally, I'm still looking for sponsors/prizes for 100 Quilts--anything fun that is sewing related. Gift certificates to a shop, charm or FQ packs, patterns, thread or embroidery kits, long arm quilting services, batting, the sky's the limit! In the past, prizes have come from shops and individual sewists/pattern designers alike.

  14. I've had the button up on my blog for some time and will give another reminder on my Thursday post as time is growing short.

My kids always loved 'mud pie' cakes. Chocolate cake and break up into pieces - mix half cool whip, half vanilla frosting - stir in some gummy worms - gently blend frosting mixture into crumbled cake. I always put the cake in a sand pail to serve out of. (chocolate pudding can be used instead of the frosting mixture)

  32. My BF and I are making baby quilts for newborns of our National Guard that recently left for Afghanistan. We did this when they were deployed several years ago and made over 40. It was a marvelous experience and hopefully, this will be too. This time I'll take pictures and post them.
