Our open water swim was actually pretty fun yesterday... complete with a few comical moments and a reminder that bay water is not so tasty.
And today, the weather is perfect- a slight breeze, no humidity, decent temperature-- the happy June day. My friend D graciously watched our kids (before hosting the baby shower) so J and I could ride together this morning--19.4 miles, so not too shabby for a morning ride! This might embarrass him, but I always appreciate that J goes out of his way to help other cyclists who are in need--changing a tire, someone in need of an obvious adjustment to their brakes, etc.
And finally, I always chuckle a little bit at Instagram photos, because they are the epitome of a "what went right" kind of post. Today we rode along Hain's Point--a peninsula in DC tucked between the Potomac River and the Washington Channel. Riding along a golf course with water on both sides on a perfect day is almost as idyllic as this picture makes it look. Enjoy your weekend :) I'm off to do laundry and clean my house. Awesome.
I will be back on Monday morning with a post about 100 Quilts for Kids--if you are visiting from Aunt Spicy's blog or have been looking for the post, I apologize for the delay. :)

What a lovely day...a bike ride sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteI did my first spin class today- yikes I had no idea that I would feel so challenged. Goog for you riding hard, I am sure it was hard but at least you were out in the beautiful outdoors not in a stinky gym!
ReplyDeleteI used to hang out at Hain's Point when we lived there. That's when they had that sculpture of the man coming out of the earth: The Awakening, which has now been moved south and he's now coming out of the Potomac. I love the cherry blossoms in the East Potomac park--no one's around and I can photograph to my heart's content.

I found your blog just recently, and--small world--I knew your sister-in-law well when I lived in Madison! We served in the primary presidency together, among other things. If you ever do get a chance to visit her again, ask her to take you to Mill House Quilts up in Waunakee--it's great (much bigger and more fun to explore than Stitcher's Crossing).
