International Quilt Market: Sample Spree

05.jpg

Sample spree happens Thursday night at Quilt Market. It is intense. It is insane.  Sample spree is an opportunity for shop owners (and anyone else lucky enough to get in) to purchase samples of lines that will be available to the public in a few weeks or months, depending on schedules. Many companies and distributors, such as Seven Islands (Echino, Melody Miller, etc.) Art Gallery Fabrics (the pictures are from their booth), Riley Blake, and Moda offer bundles for sale. People show up really early, as in hours early, and if you are lucky enough to be friends with lovely people like Kaye or Jennifer, and they happen to be in the front of the line, you really luck out. Thanks, ladies.

I should have taken pictures of the line (out the door and around the corner and a gazillion people in it), or the mad dash to the Moda table (people eight deep all trying to get to the same fabric bundles) or the sheer energy and frenzy in the room. But I was kind of caught up in it. And a little overwhelmed. Wow. Wow.

The Echino bundles and Art Gallery solids were probably my two favorites of the night.
