The holiday season is fast approaching and Aunt Spicy and I are thrilled to make a teaser announcement for 100 Quilts for Christmas. Do you have any quilt WIPs, orphan blocks, flannel for receiving blankets, scraps, quilts you have made already that don’t have a home, a new technique or pattern you have been meaning to try, some great fabric in your stash that can be made into a quilt, or need an excuse to buy some new fabric?
Please join us in making and donating a baby or toddler sized handmade blanket or quilt (or two) to a child in need. The (largely online) charity quilt drive will officially run from November 15-December 15, 2010--Give a gift of love to a child in need in your community this holiday season!
Official details, including ideas for places to donate your quilt(s) locally, link up parties, a (very new) flickr group, and sponsors (with great giveaways!!!) will be announced November 15, 2010.
Note: It is always more fun to sew with friends, so 100 Quilts for Christmas might be the perfect excuse to host a party, get together as a quilt guild, give a quick sewing lesson to a neighbor or friend, invite people from your sewing or church group to participate, etc. I know the DC Modern Quilt Guild has planned two dates this month to work on blankets and quilts for children in a local domestic violence shelter and in a local foster care system. If you want to join us, email me at swimbikequilt@gmail.com!
